Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken
Ingredients
For the Chicken:
2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut in half lengthwise and pounded to an even thickness (makes 4 cutlets)
2 large eggs, beaten with 1 tbsp water
1 cup flour
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp smoked paprika (regular paprika works if unavailable)
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
½ tsp garlic powder
¼ cup vegetable oil (for frying)
Honey Garlic Sauce:
½ cup honey
2 tsp minced garlic
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 3 tbsp cold water
Instructions
Prepare the Chicken:
In a shallow dish, whisk the eggs with 1 tbsp water. In a separate dish, mix together the flour, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Coat the Chicken:
Dip each chicken cutlet into the egg mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to ensure even coating.
Fry the Chicken:
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken cutlets for about 4–5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:
In a small saucepan, combine the honey, minced garlic, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Stir in the cornstarch slurry, and cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Coat and Serve:
Pour the sauce over the fried chicken, coating each piece thoroughly. Serve hot with your choice of sides.
