Ingredients:
For the Bangers and Mash:
8 sausages (e.g., traditional pork sausages or Boerewors)
4 large potatoes, peeled and diced
30ml butter
125ml milk
For the Stout and Onion Gravy:
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
125ml stout beer (like Guinness or Castle)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
30ml butter
Salt and pepper, to taste
🔹️Instructions:
1. Make the Mashed Potatoes:
Boil the diced potatoes in salted water until soft.
Drain the water, mash the potatoes, and mix in the butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Season with salt as needed.
2. Cook the Sausages:
Grill or pan-fry the sausages over medium heat until golden brown and fully cooked through.
3. Prepare the Stout and Onion Gravy:
In a pan, melt the butter and cook the onions and garlic until soft and caramelized.
Sprinkle in the flour, stir well, and cook for 1–2 minutes.
Gradually pour in the stout beer, stirring constantly to avoid lumps, and let it simmer until thickened.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4. Serve:
Place the sausages over the creamy mashed potatoes and generously pour the stout and onion gravy over the top.
