CHILI CHEESE DOG SANDWICH
Ingredients:
Chili:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp smoked paprika
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Hot Dogs:
8 beef hot dogs
8 hot dog buns
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2 tbsp butter, melted (for toasting buns)
Toppings:
Diced onions
Sliced jalapeños (optional)
Mustard (optional)
Instructions:
Make the Chili:
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
Add diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened.
Stir in tomato sauce, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cook the Hot Dogs:
Grill or boil the hot dogs until heated through.
Toast the Buns:
Lightly brush the inside of the buns with melted butter and toast them on a skillet or grill until golden brown.
Assemble the Chili Cheese Dog Sandwich:
Place each hot dog in a toasted bun.
Spoon a generous amount of chili over the hot dog.
Top with shredded cheddar cheese, diced onions, and sliced jalapeños (if using).
Serve:
Serve hot with mustard on the side, if desired.
Helpful Tip: For a gooey cheese topping, place the assembled chili cheese dog sandwiches under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts!
