Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs thinly sliced roast beef
8 slices provolone cheese
4 hoagie rolls, sliced open
2 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Caramelize the onions: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until golden and caramelized, about 10-12 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Warm the roast beef: Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and oregano to the skillet. Add the sliced roast beef and heat until warm. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Assemble the sandwiches: Place the warm beef and onions onto the hoagie rolls. Top with slices of provolone cheese.
Melt the cheese: Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve immediately for best taste!
Helpful Tips:
Toast the hoagie rolls with a bit of butter for extra crispiness.
For added flavor, spread a little horseradish or spicy mustard on the rolls before adding the beef.
