Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions
Ingredients:
1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
1 tablespoon dry sherry (optional)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
Instructions:
Prepare the Steak: In a bowl, combine the flank steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, oyster sauce (if using), sherry (if using), black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well to coat the steak evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 hour in the refrigerator.
Cook the Steak: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated steak and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
Cook the Vegetables: Add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until softened and slightly browned.
Combine and Serve: Return the cooked steak to the skillet and stir-fry with the vegetables for 1-2 minutes more, or until heated through. Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles.
Tips:
For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the marinade.
You can substitute other vegetables for the bell peppers, such as broccoli, snow peas, or mushrooms.
Serve with a side of steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
