Ultimate BBQ Smash Burger

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
4 slices cheddar or American cheese
4 burger buns, toasted
½ cup BBQ sauce
8 slices crispy bacon
Toppings: lettuce, pickles, sliced red onion
Instructions:

Form and Season Patties: Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and roll into balls. Season generously with salt and pepper.
Cook the Patties: Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat. Place each beef ball on the skillet and immediately press down with a spatula to “smash” it thin. Cook for 2-3 minutes until edges are crispy, then flip.
Add Cheese and BBQ Sauce: After flipping, add a slice of cheese to each patty and cook until melted. Add a spoonful of BBQ sauce on each patty while on the grill.
Assemble the Burger: Spread BBQ sauce on each toasted bun. Layer with lettuce, pickles, and red onion. Place the cheesy smash patty on top, then add two slices of crispy bacon.
Serve: Place the top bun on and enjoy your BBQ smash burger!
Notes:

For an extra kick, add a slice of pepper jack cheese or a drizzle of spicy BBQ sauce!
