2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp unsalted butter
3 garlic cloves, smashed
2 sprigs fresh thyme
Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Caramelized Onions:
2 large onions, thinly sliced
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Fries:
4 large russet potatoes, cut into fries
3 tbsp vegetable oil
Salt, to taste
Instructions:
Make the fries: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss the cut potatoes with vegetable oil and salt, then spread them on a baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
Caramelize the onions: Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sugar, cooking for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Stir in balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper, then set aside.
Cook the ribeye steaks: Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat. Season the steaks with salt and pepper. Sear for 3-4 minutes per side, then add butter, smashed garlic, and thyme. Baste the steaks with the melted butter for another minute.
Serve hot with caramelized onions and fries on the side.
Helpful Tips:
Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes before serving to retain their juices.
Add a pinch of smoked paprika to the fries for extra flavor.
