Classic Lemon Meringue Pie Delight

Ingredients:
– 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
– 3 large egg whites
– 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
– 1/4 cup cornstarch
– 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
– 4 large egg yolks
– 2 cups water
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1 tablespoon butter
– 1 pre-baked pie crust

Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get the perfect meringue finish.

2. In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and salt.

3. Slowly stir in water and lemon juice. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.

4. In a small bowl, beat the egg yolks and gradually mix in about a half cup of the hot mixture. Then, return everything to the saucepan and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the butter until melted.

9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the meringue is golden brown.
