Delicious oven-baked barbecue chicken drumsticks

Ingredients:

12 chicken drumsticks

1 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon chili powder (optional, for spice)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. Prepare the Chicken:

Pat the drumsticks dry with a paper towel.

Use a sharp knife to score the drumsticks with 2-3 shallow cuts on each side (as seen in the image). This helps the marinade penetrate the meat.

3. Season the Drumsticks:

In a small bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper.

Rub this mixture generously over the drumsticks, ensuring they are evenly coated.

4. Bake the Chicken:

Place the drumsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

5. Add the Barbecue Sauce:

Remove the drumsticks from the oven and brush them generously with barbecue sauce.

Flip the drumsticks, brush the other side, and return them to the oven.

6. Finish Baking:

Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C) and the sauce is caramelized.

7. Broil (Optional):

For extra caramelization, turn on the broiler for 2-3 minutes, keeping a close eye to avoid burning.

8. Serve:

Let the drumsticks rest for 5 minutes before serving. Pair with your favorite sides like coleslaw, roasted veggies, or fries.

Enjoy 😋❤️
