Garlic Beef and Asparagus Stir-Fry
Juicy, marinated beef with crisp asparagus and garlic – a delicious, quick meal perfect for weeknights!
Ingredients:
For the Beef and Vegetables:
250g beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced
1 bunch asparagus, cut into 2-inch pieces
4-5 cloves garlic, whole or slightly crushed
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Olive oil or vegetable oil, for cooking
For the Marinade:
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp black pepper
For the Stir-Fry Sauce:
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp sugar
1/4 cup beef or chicken broth (optional, for added moisture)
Directions:
1️⃣ Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper. Add the sliced beef, ensuring it’s well coated. Let it marinate for 15-20 minutes.
2️⃣ Prepare the Asparagus:
Rinse and cut the asparagus into 2-inch pieces. Set aside.
3️⃣ Cook the Beef:
Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat with a bit of oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
4️⃣ Cook the Asparagus and Garlic:
In the same skillet, add more oil if needed. Add the garlic cloves and sauté until they’re fragrant and lightly browned.
Add the asparagus and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes, until it’s tender but still crisp.
5️⃣ Combine and Add the Stir-Fry Sauce:
Return the beef to the skillet with the asparagus.
Pour in the stir-fry sauce (soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and broth if using) and stir well to coat everything evenly.
Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is fully cooked and the sauce has slightly thickened.
6️⃣ Serve:
Garnish with a sprig of rosemary (optional) and serve hot with rice or noodles for a complete meal.
