Chicken Fried Steak Bites
Ingredients:
1 lb cubed beef steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1/4 cup milk
Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
For the Gravy:
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 1/2 cups milk
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Prepare the Dredging Station:
In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
Coat the Steak Bites:
Dip each cubed steak bite into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture, pressing gently to coat well.
Fry the Steak Bites:
Heat about 1/4 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, fry the coated steak bites in batches, cooking each for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Make the Gravy:
In a separate pan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to form a roux and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve:
Serve the crispy chicken fried steak bites with the creamy gravy on the side or drizzled on top.
