CHILI CHEESE DOG SANDWICH
Ingredients :
Chili :
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion cut into cubes
2 minced garlic cloves
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 can (15 oz) kidney beans drained and rinsed
2 tablespoons of chili powder
1 teaspoon of ground cumin
1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste
Hot Dogs :
8 beef hotdogs
8 hot dog buns
2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons of melted butter (for toasting the buns)
Toppings :
Diced Onions
Sliced Jalapeños (optional)
Mustard (optional)

Make the chili:
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until tender.
Stir in tomato sauce, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt and black pepper.
Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cooking the hot dogs :
Grill or boil hot dogs until gone
Toast to the buns:
Lightly brush the insides of buns with melted butter and toast in a pan or grill until golden brown.
Assemble the Chili Cheese Dog Sandwich:
place each hot dog in toasts
Spoon generous amount of chili on the hotdog.
Top with shredded cheddar cheese, diced onions, and sliced jalapeños (if you use).
Serve :
Serve hot with mustard on the side, so desired.
Helpful tip: For a gooey cheese topping, place the chili cheese sandwiches under the griddle for 1-2 minutes, until cheese is melted!
