MCheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole
Ingredients:
– 1 pound ground beef
– 1 small onion, diced
– 4 medium russet potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
– 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
– 1 cup milk
– 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
– 2 tablespoons butter
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– Paprika and parsley, optional for garnish
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Cook Ground Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onions are softened. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Drain excess grease if necessary.
3. Prepare Potatoes: Slice the potatoes thinly (about 1/4-inch thick) using a mandoline slicer or a knife.
4. Layer the Casserole:
– In the greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly across the bottom.
– Spread half of the cooked ground beef mixture over the potatoes.
– Add a layer of half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
– Repeat with the remaining potatoes, ground beef, and top with the remaining cheese.
5. Make the Sauce: In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and milk, heating gently until smooth.
6. Pour Over Casserole: Pour the mushroom soup mixture evenly over the layered potatoes, beef, and cheese.
7. Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and the potatoes are fork-tender.
8. Garnish & Serve: Optionally, sprinkle with paprika and chopped parsley before serving.
